Children manifest and express themselves in the development of play activities and games. Mathematics teaching develops in the early grades, developing by the basic components of mathematical knowledge. In this context, the teaching of Mathematics has aggregated proposals for teaching strategies based on the playfulness methodology. The general objective of this study is to discuss the potential of playful activities of games in the teaching of Mathematics in the early grades of elementary school. This study is characterized as a bibliographic research. The development of this study is based on the importance of promoting an adequate teaching-learning process for students in the early grades of elementary school. The potential of recreational activities is concrete, as demonstrated by the practical intervention, but they are conditioned to the existence of planning, responsibility and commitment of the teacher.
