This study aims to analyse the public policies of resocialisation implemented at the Conjunto Penal de Itabuna, in the State of Bahia, seeking to identify their main advances and limitations, as well as to propose alternatives for improving actions aimed at the social reintegration of inmates. It is based on the premise that, although there are consolidated legal and institutional frameworks, such as the Penal Execution Law and the National Plan for Criminal and Penitentiary Policy, the implementation of these policies faces significant challenges related to overcrowding, shortage of human and material resources, and the absence of post-release follow-up. The research adopts a qualitative approach, of descriptive and exploratory nature, grounded on bibliographical review and documentary analysis of official reports and relevant legislation. The results indicate that prison education and labour constitute central pillars of resocialisation actions, complemented by psychosocial support offered to inmates. It is concluded that the consolidation of an effective prison policy requires greater integration among public bodies and the strengthening of intersectoral mechanisms capable of ensuring the continuity of actions after the completion of the sentence, thereby promoting a more sustainable and humanised social reintegration.
