This work presents an experience report based on the work of a teacher in the Multifunctional Resource Room (SRM) at a state school in Maceió, Alagoas. Upon assuming the role, a widespread lack of knowledge was observed among teachers and the management team regarding the role and pedagogical purpose of the SRM. The absence of clear guidelines and the multiplicity of interpretations of its function initially generated insecurity and anxiety. However, over three years, through training, exchanges of experiences, and reflective pedagogical practices, it was possible to redefine the space and consolidate its true function within the context of inclusive education. The study aims to reflect on the challenges faced in the implementation of Specialized Educational Services (AEE) and highlight the importance of continuing education for the effective implementation of inclusive practices in public schools.
