Abstract

This article analyzes Law 10.639/2003 and its applicability in everyday school practices. It highlights that, although there are significant initiatives, such as interdisciplinary projects, cultural activities, and the use of literary works by Afro-Brazilian authors, the effectiveness of the law remains limited by structural, pedagogical and institutional barriers, facing challenges and resistance at multiple levels. Drawing on theoretical reflections, the study points out the difficulties of implementing the law in school routines, which are often marked by discriminatory practices, social exclusion, inequalities and dominant power hierarchies. It argues that overcoming structural resistance requires collective commitment and actions that ensure both the sustainability and depth of anti-racist practices.
