Abstract

This research seeks to analyze the impacts of the anti-crime law, as well as the influence of Law 14.843/24 on the application of criminal law. The implementation of the Anti-Crime Law significantly altered law enforcement strategies and procedures throughout Brazil. The package of anti-crime and criminal repression measures presents a multifaceted approach to improving public safety, restoring community trust, and supporting victims. Its emphasis on increased resources, visible policing, and swift justice can effectively reduce crime rates and promote safer neighborhoods. However, these measures are not without significant risks, including potential violations of civil liberties, the threat of mass incarceration, and the neglect of systemic social issues that contribute to criminal behavior. Finding a balance between enforcement and safeguarding individual rights, community engagement, and addressing root causes is essential to creating a fair and effective crime reduction strategy.
