Veterinary anesthesiology is a field characterized by its high complexity and significant risks, where the possibility of errors can affect not only the safety of the animal being treated, but also impact the education and training of professionals who will be providing services in this area in the future. This critical interaction between practice and learning must be carefully observed, considering the repercussions that a mistake can have in both contexts. However, when error is examined from a perspective that encompasses both pedagogy and ethics, it becomes clear that it transforms into an extremely relevant and valuable learning opportunity. This understanding highlights the importance of viewing failures not only as obstacles, but as significant chances for personal and intellectual growth and development. This article aims to discuss the relevance of addressing the issue of error in veterinary anesthesiology within an educational context. In this sense, several strategies will be proposed that aim to transform the errors committed into valuable opportunities for the professional and cognitive development of those involved. Reflecting on errors can promote meaningful learning, contributing to the training of more skilled and conscious professionals in their practices. The methodology was based on a narrative literature review, focusing on studies on medical education, anesthetic safety, and the pedagogy of error. It is concluded that a culture of learning from error should be encouraged in veterinary teaching institutions, promoting safe environments for reflection, dialogue, and continuous improvement of anesthetic practices.
