Abstract

This article is part of a research project that addresses the implementation and implementation of the public policy for selecting school administrators in the public school system in the municipality of Mauriti, Ceará, located in northeastern Brazil, analyzing the innovations implemented and the challenges faced in the execution of the selection process. Considering the importance of school management for the quality of education, we seek to investigate how the adoption of democratic practices and the participation of the school community contribute to the formation of a more participatory and effective environment in schools. The study is based on a literature review on the subject, research and analysis of documents from the legislation of the municipality of Mauriti - CE, on the execution of the selection process and the application of a questionnaire with educators, administrators and members of the school community about the technical criteria, merit and performance evaluation of administrators, as well as transparency and the challenges encountered in the implementation of the educational policy for the democratic selection of school administrators.
