Review. Rural Education. Trajectory.Abstract
This article aims to address important factors regarding Rural Education in Brazil. The topic was presented in three main dimensions: the concept of Rural Education itself, its trajectory in Brazil, and its interconnection with social movements; the obstacles and possibilities encountered; and, finally, the studies addressing the topic. This study used a literature review as the methodology. This type of research provides the researcher with a large repertoire of published studies in the field that can inform the identification of diverse possibilities for action, as well as reflection on possible interventions. A brief review of several journals from 1996 to 2025 was conducted. It is clear how much has already been achieved in Rural Education in Brazil, thanks to social movements, but it remains an unfinished and understudied process. The fight for quality basic education is a public commitment and a right for those who live in and on the countryside. Many studies focusing on this topic are being developed, and thus, an understanding of the historical process, concept, challenges, and possibilities regarding Rural Education is necessary.
