Abstract

This article investigated the importance of contemporary art in pedagogical practices, highlighting its potential to foster creativity, critical thinking, interdisciplinarity, and student protagonism. A qualitative bibliographic research was conducted based on authors discussing art education, teacher mediation, and contemporary methodologies in education. Results indicate that integrating contemporary art promotes the development of aesthetic sensitivity and the connection between different knowledge areas. The role of the teacher as a mediator in the creative process and the need for teacher training focused on digital technologies and active methodologies are emphasized. It is concluded that pedagogical practice based on contemporary art stimulates student participation, broadens their forms of expression, and promotes critical and reflective learning, strengthening education’s emancipatory function. Therefore, it is essential that educational institutions incorporate this language into their pedagogical projects to enhance social transformation and humanization.
