This paper explores the intersection of technologies, citizenship and education, focusing on digital practices in the school environment and the risks associated with online safety. The objective is to examine whether it is possible to nullify these risks and promote a safe digital educational environment. The methodology involved a comprehensive bibliographical research, with a critical analysis of works by authors such as Johnson, Smith & Davis, the Ministry of Education and the interview by Silva & Santos. The results highlight the growing importance of digital practices in education, while highlighting emerging risks such as leakage of personal data, exposure to inappropriate content and cyberbullying. The literature also points out strategies to mitigate these risks, such as digital security education, clear policies and collaboration with parents and guardians. However, complete avoidance of risks seems elusive given the rapid technological evolution and the complexity of cyber threats. Therefore, the conclusions indicate the importance of promoting a culture of digital awareness, which enables students to face online challenges with resilience and knowledge. As digital practices in education continue to evolve, constant reflection and collaboration remain essential to ensure a safe and enriching learning environment.
