The Federal Institutes (IFs), created in 2008, aim to offer professional and technological education at various levels, with emphasis on technical training integrated with high school. This study analyzed the familiarity of third-year students of integrated technical courses at IFMT Campus Primavera do Leste (IFMT-PDL) with the institution before enrolling and the importance of student assistance policies for course completion. A questionnaire with 24 questions was administered to 20 students. The research is applied, exploratory, mixed and action research. The results indicate the need to increase the institution's awareness and highlight the vital importance of student assistance policies for student retention and success.
