Abstract

The Ressaca Literária journal from UNIRG serves as a democratic space for academic publication and expression but faces challenges related to low student participation. This research analyzed the journal's importance in the critical and professional development of students in UNIRG's Letters program, investigating how participation impacts academic writing skills, encourages textual production, and fosters engagement with the literary environment. Using a mixed-methods approach, we conducted a documentary analysis of previously published editions and applied questionnaires via Google Forms to students in the program. The results highlight key factors contributing to low student engagement and suggest strategies to increase the journal’s relevance and participation within the academic context. The theoretical framework is based on authors such as Candido (2002), Cosson (2020), Pimentel (2015), Rojo (2009), Soares (2012), and Severino (2016), among others.
