The Parnaíba Delta, with its rich natural and cultural diversity, is a favorable environment for integrating teaching, research and extension. The general aim of this article is to analyze the contributions of the Federal University of the Parnaíba Delta (UFDPAR) to sustainability and local development, especially with regard to environmental preservation, sustainable management and valuing traditional communities. The specific objectives include: investigating the impacts of environmental preservation projects in the region; evaluating sustainable management practices and analyzing the appreciation of local communities through academic and community initiatives. The methodology adopted is qualitative and exploratory, with a bibliographical approach and field research, with interviews with local residents, fishermen and researchers, as well as direct observation of the activities carried out. The expected results include the identification of good conservation and management practices, the promotion of greater environmental awareness among local communities and the strengthening of integration between UFDPAR and sustainable practices in the region. The research also aims to contribute to the formation of a continuous ecological education, where practical experience and academic teaching can go hand in hand, promoting local development and ecological balance.
