This study addresses the topic of interdisciplinary teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim was to reflect on the challenges faced by elementary school teachers in maintaining interdisciplinary teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology used was a mixed approach involving bibliographic research and a case study based on an interview with four elementary school teachers, two from the public school system and one from the private school system, who were working during the pandemic. The results show that the teachers were unanimous in relation to interdisciplinarity in the teaching and learning process and in line with the guidelines and literature. However, the pandemic was a challenging period, especially in the first cycle of elementary school, regarding the issue of interdisciplinarity, requiring adaptations based on the reality of each student and the practice adopted by teachers when using technology. Therefore, it is concluded that the challenges resulting from emergency remote teaching continue for education professionals, with interdisciplinarity being a possible way to minimize the gap in Brazilian education in the post-pandemic period.
