Abstract

Digital information and communication technologies have made significant advances in recent years, the emergence of a faster internet, modern computers and state-of-the-art cell phones have decentralized access to information, challenging the school community to include these technologies in teaching, adding value and knowledge for the teaching-learning process. With this, the teacher was challenged to innovate and work with these tools in the classroom, introducing audiovisual resources such as videos, digital platforms, gamification and others. It is necessary for the teacher to be willing to diversify math classes, making it a more attractive and challenging environment. The purpose of this work was to identify how Digital Information and Communication Technologies, through the Khan Academy platform, can be inserted in classrooms, contributing mainly to student learning. In this sense, we elaborated the objective to investigate how the platform can streamline the classroom space and the teaching-learning process, offering possibilities for teachers to teach content in an innovative way and for students to learn at their own pace, building knowledge, through gamification and videos. Therefore, the work used field research as a methodology, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, taking into account the issues investigated in the research developed with 16 students from the 9th grade of elementary school, from Colégio Militar Tiradentes VI, in the city of São José de São José de Ribamar – MA. With the study, we verified that the use of the Khan Academy platform in mathematics classes, as long as it is done correctly, with adequate planning and studies, is beneficial to the teaching-learning process in mathematics, leading the student to become interested in the subject, making him an active subject in this process, being, therefore, the author of his own knowledge.
