Abstract

This article seeks to discuss the enormous relevance of the National High School Exam (ENEM) in the Brazilian educational context, focusing on the various transformations it has undergone since its creation. It demonstrates the relevance of ENEM as a pathway to higher education, its contribution to the democratization of education, and its role in the Unified Selection System (SISU). The text also discusses the potential improvements and challenges associated with the exam, addressing topics such as security, transparency, and the impact on social inequalities that exist in various parts of the country. In addition to addressing criticisms of the exam, the study proposes reflections on possible future technological and methodological advances that may have a positive impact on its use. This research analyzes and seeks to understand the relevance of ENEM, highlighting its impact on the lives of young Brazilians and on the Brazilian educational system.
