ENVIRONMENTAL DIPLOMACY AND THE FIGHT AGAINST INTERNATIONAL WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING

This article seeks to discuss the relevance of global cooperation in the fight against international trafficking in wild animals of the Brazilian fauna through strategies adopted by environmental diplomacy, facilitating collaboration between governments, non-governmental organizations, the community and other stakeholders. Through comparative studies of national and international legislation and practices, the investigation of journalistic documents and the analysis of statistical data on animal seizures, this article evaluates the interactions of the aforementioned organizations with environmental policies, laws, socio-environmental awareness and cooperativism as tools for solving the challenge, with the aim of protecting Brazilian fauna in the face of one of the greatest threats to biodiversity, causing irreversible ecological damage. A collaborative and integrated approach is fundamental to tackling the complexity of animal trafficking and guaranteeing the survival of endangered species for future generations.
