This study aimed to analyze the benefits and contraindications of physical activity, specifically resistance training, during pregnancy. It can be concluded that strength training is beneficial for pregnant women, provided that appropriate care and precautions are taken. It should only be performed with medical clearance and can be maintained or initiated from the first trimester of pregnancy. Supervision by a qualified physical education professional and a multidisciplinary team is necessary. There are no specific exercises exclusively for pregnant women; they may continue their usual practices with caution. Strength training can be safely performed by pregnant women and, in some cases, may even be prescribed during the first three months of pregnancy. Its benefits include improvements in functional status, psychological and metabolic health, and reduced risks of complications, among others.
