This study analyzes the epidemiological profile of hospitalizations and deaths due to gastric and duodenal ulcers in Paraná between 2014 and 2024, using data from the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). The analysis revealed a predominance of cases among men (65%) and individuals over 60 years of age, indicating aging and behavioral risk factors as the main influences in the worsening of these conditions. A higher incidence was also observed among white individuals, but with relevant rates among mixed-race and black individuals, suggesting inequalities in access and treatment. In addition, approximately 82% of hospitalizations do not report the type of care provided (public or private), highlighting a limitation in the data. The increased vulnerability among men and the elderly points to the need for public policies focused on the prevention and management of risk factors, including the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Thus, the study contributes to the planning of preventive actions and more effective management of public health resources aimed at the highest-risk groups.
