The research aims to analyze how Brazilian copyright legislation can be modernized to respond to the challenges presented by the digital age. The aim is to strike a balance between protecting the rights of content creators and promoting equitable access to culture and information. In the digital age, copyright takes on a new dimension in Brazil, with unique challenges and opportunities provided by the online environment. Brazilian legislation, represented mainly by the Copyright Law (Law No. 9.610/98), faces the challenge of adapting to rapid technological changes and new models of distribution and consumption of digital content. Although copyright is essential to protect creators and encourage cultural production, the discussion about its application in the digital age involves complex issues, such as freedom of expression, access to information, and fair remuneration for artists and producers. In this context, debates arise about the effectiveness of digital protection measures and the need for public policies that balance the interests of copyright holders with the rights of users. The research is bibliographical and descriptive in nature, based on a literature review that covers legislation, doctrines, academic articles and reports on copyright, both in the Brazilian and international contexts. In view of these challenges, it is essential to promote an open and inclusive dialogue among all, including creators, consumers, technology companies and legislators, in order to find solutions that guarantee copyright protection in the digital age, while promoting innovation, creativity and access to culture for all Brazilians.
