Urethral obstruction in cattle is a common reality in the world, however it is not a case series that is easily treated with medication; surgical removal in most cases becomes more viable to save the affected animal. The present report aims to describe a case of a steer with urination problems due to a urethral obstruction in which he underwent a surgical penectomy operation associated with urethrostomy in the perineal region. Urethrostomy is a procedure that diverts the penis, and consequently the urethra, so that the animal can urinate. This procedure aims to relieve the animal, which will no longer have liquid in the perineal region due to the deviation. The patient had reduced mobility, abdominal discomfort and weight loss. After surgery, it was observed that the animal urinated and that with anti-inflammatory and antibiotic treatment over the days, the animal was completely cured.
