This article addresses the theme of a more human and affective approach in learning environments with deaf individuals, justified by the need for educators to adopt attitudinal accessibility alongside respect for notable linguistic differences during educational practice. The aim of this study was to gather information on differential aspects in the use of sign language by deaf students and the affective approach that can be applied based on Wallon’s concept. The methodology included analyzing interviews conducted with deaf students at the Federal Institute of Roraima and a field diary with observations. Data were compared with writings by authors addressing deaf culture and education, as well as the article “Affectivity in Child Development - Contributions by Henri Wallon.” As a result, we suggest an affective approach with deaf individuals in school environments and indicate that further research should be developed on this topic, expanded to include older deaf students.
