Distance learning through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is a necessity for the initial and continuing training of professionals and due to the pandemic of COVID-19, it was extremely necessary for the health protocols of social distance to be complied with. The question is whether professionals and students are really prepared to face this challenge and present the ways for them to be fulfilled correctly. This creates a contradiction between the didactic principles of distance education and the use of ICT in initial and continuing professional education, reviewing the elements that contribute to thinking teacher training as an articulation of factors that, without contradicting contexts, as well as allowing the appropriation of digital resources for teaching. This situation led to the formulation of the objective that is aimed at analyzing the theoretical elements related to conceptual and practical research in distance education with the use of ICT in the initial and continuing education of literacy students. The line of research is bibliographic. The results showed that the pedagogical quality and the preparation of teachers with the use of ICTs improve the teaching and learning process and foster innovative programs in the area of education, resulting in an effective learning process for children.
