Wildlife trafficking in Brazil is the third-largest illegal market worldwide, severely harming biodiversity and public health. IBAMA leads enforcement efforts, and CETAS cares for seized animals. Veterinarians play a key role in identifying diseases and promoting animal health. While legislation needs to be strengthened, IBAMA continues to intercept trafficked animals despite ongoing challenges.
