This article addresses the achievements and challenges of the deaf community, highlighting historical discrimination and the importance of Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) in communication and education, which represented significant progress but needs to be expanded. The lack of hearing compromises social and educational development, aggravated by misinformation among parents and educators. Within a bibliographical research based on authors and laws that deal with inclusive education, this article shows that the exclusion of the deaf begins in childhood, and services in public spaces present major communication barriers. To ensure inclusion, companies and society need to adapt and promote accessibility in all spaces.
