The contents, methodologies, teaching-learning strategies, teaching evaluation are essential in educational entities due to a change in the difficulty of reading and textual production by the student. This means using a coherent pedagogical practice and improving socio-cognitive capabilities that are not fully developed. The methodology was based on a bibliographical review of a qualitative-descriptive nature and was carried out using the Scielo and Google Scholar databases to search for articles related to the study. In order to achieve the objectives proposed in this work and respond to the initial problem, authors who have already discussed the subject were used as a source of research and basis. As hypotheses and notes to resolve the initial problem, the guiding questions of the work were discussed, regarding encouraging reading in Portuguese language and literature classes, both in primary and secondary education.
