Abstract

Food is influenced by locality and social context. This article sought to explore permanent measures in the school environment that can promote health and increase awareness of the importance of healthier eating. The methodology used combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. In the qualitative field, field observations and literature reviews related to the study topic will be made. In urban areas, the availability of fresh food versus the presence of establishments selling processed foods significantly influences the eating habits of local populations. Studies carried out in schools located in different socioeconomic contexts show that these environments can perpetuate poor eating habits, especially where access to healthy foods is limited. This results in a continuous cycle of poor food choices, affecting the health of communities. An analysis of obesogenic spaces shows that both the physical and social environments play a crucial role in shaping eating habits, reflecting and perpetuating structural inequalities. Therefore, it is essential to understand these influences to develop strategies that promote healthy eating and reduce health disparities in different social and economic contexts.
