The objective of this article is to carry out research, guided by a case study, to analyze the application of literary texts and their advantageous effects in the teaching-learning process, at Elementary Level I of the Almiro José da Silva and Evaristo Ribeiro dos Santos, in Itiúba-Bahia. The choice for the theme is justified by the emphasis on the benefits provided by literary texts, as relevant textual supports in reading, otherwise, by seeking to awaken teachers and students to the great significance of these resources in teaching and learning, in addition to Of particular note is the Baú de Leitura Project, in the municipality of Itiúba. Thus, in order to achieve the proposed objectives, a case study was carried out, with a qualitative approach, using a questionnaire, with questions (open and closed), to eight teachers, four from each educational institution in question. It was concluded that these texts provide student motivation for learning and influence performance in cognitive, emotional and cultural aspects. The use of literary texts aims, above all, to develop and expand the skills necessary for the student's reading and intellectual training.
