This research focuses on the performance of high school students in reading and text production, and the vision and work of teachers in relation to reading and writing. The research's general objective was to understand the limitations and possibilities experienced in high school at a public school in Bahia. reading, writing and textual production; Know how teachers develop and apply school text production activities in Writing and other language areas, how they develop reading and writing methodologies, as well as discuss the limitations and possibilities for this practice in high school; Find out whether morning and afternoon high school students realize the importance of reading, writing and text production for their lives; Investigate the reason for the low performance presented by 3rd year high school students in the production of school texts. To achieve these objectives, the field research method was used in a descriptive approach with data collection designs. The results were organized in tables and graphs, subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics analysis, aiming at understanding and mapping the characteristic and specific profile of the teacher and student, as well as their understanding, skills and competences in reading, writing and production of texts. This research brings contributions and concerns to the area of language, due to the way in which reading and writing are worked on at school, especially in high school, the final phase of basic education, which must prepare the student for access to the other stages of education. training (ENEM) of the same.
