Abstract

This study investigated the tools, methodologies and impacts of teaching programming in elementary school, with the aim of identifying best practices and proposing strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of this teaching in Brazilian schools. The research used a bibliographic review methodology, analyzing scientific articles, books, theses, dissertations and publications in conference proceedings. The results showed that tools like Scratch and unplugged computing were effective in introducing programming concepts in an accessible and engaging way. Educational games and practical projects have also proven themselves in the application of theoretical concepts in real situations. Continuous teacher training was identified as essential for effective programming teaching. Positive impacts included the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking and digital inclusion. However, challenges such as inadequate teacher training and lack of technological resources were highlighted. Final considerations suggested the need for more studies to explore teacher training practices and strategies to overcome the lack of technological resources. It was concluded that, despite the challenges, teaching programming in elementary school offers significant opportunities for the integral development of students.
