This article aims to reflect on the role of Psychology in welcoming the emotional demands of the population suffering from the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. To this end, narrative literature review research was carried out in scientific databases, carrying out a argumentative and descriptive text on the current subject. It is considered that with the floods that occurred in that state, the population is prone to the development of negative emotional aspects, such as anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress, suffering, chemical dependency, sleep disorders, etc. Psychology, as a profession prepared to act in the face of psychological demands, can carry out welcoming work, qualified listening, psychoeducation and, above all, offer support so that such people can have more adaptive coping skills with everything that has happened to this population. .
