Abstract

Objective: To assess the prevalence of hospital admissions due to diabetes mellitus in the state of Paraná over a 10-year period, by sex, ethnic group, and age range. Methods: The study was conducted using secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS) on the prevalence of diabetes-related hospitalizations between 2013 and 2023. Results: Over the past 10 years, the prevalence of diabetes-related hospitalizations in the state of Paraná has decreased. Furthermore, it was observed over the years that women, individuals of White and Brown ethnicities, and those aged between 60 and 69 years, had the highest number of notifications. Conclusion: The programs and campaigns adopted in the state of Paraná contribute to the treatment and prevention of diabetes.
