SCHOOL VIOLENCE: BRIEF REFLECTION ON THE CONSEQUENCES FOR THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS

Basic education schools have been the target of several acts of violence, which has raised concerns in the school community and in the people who frequent this environment daily. This article aims to briefly reflect on violence in the school environment and its impact on the teaching and learning process. Emphasizing that the violence present in this environment affects interpersonal relationships between subjects/students. It can be understood that combating violence is a primary responsibility of public authorities, promoting public social policies to eradicate this phenomenon. The lack of efficiency of these policies has a negative impact on society as a whole, especially on the teaching and learning process. In this context, it is essential that teachers are trained to identify aggressive behaviors and make correct decisions to prevent them when they occur. The methodology used to carry out this study consisted of bibliographical research, by authors with extensive expertise in the educational area, such as Abramovay (2009), Fante (2011), Lopes Neto (2011), Silva (2015), among others.
