In this article, we explore the imperative need for teacher qualification and appreciation in the educational context of the 21st century. In the face of rapid social and technological changes, teacher qualification is not just a complement, but rather a requirement to meet the dynamic and diverse profile of contemporary students. We address the distinction between initial and continuing education, emphasizing the importance of an integrated vision that recognizes the multidimensional skills necessary for the modern teacher. However, qualification alone is not enough. Teacher appreciation, which goes beyond fair remuneration, involves social recognition of the profession, working conditions and the possibility of career progression. We examined the interrelation between qualification and valuation, proposing a synergistic approach, where valuation serves as an incentive for the constant search for qualification. Based on bibliographical research, we present global evidence that highlights the benefits of investing simultaneously in both aspects, culminating in better teaching performance and consequently enriching the students' learning experience. We conclude by highlighting the urgency of public policies and institutional practices that give priority to the qualification and appreciation of teachers, aiming at an education of excellence adapted to the demands of the 21st century. Ensuring better teaching performance and consequent enrichment of the students' learning experience.
