The problem of mental health among young people is being increasingly emphasized by the (WHO), the World Health Organization, and there is a need for a more comprehensive dialogue with teachers linked to these new learning contexts. This article aims to analyze the purpose of enhancing reflection and changing attitudes related to mental health among students at the Instituto de Educação Monte Santo school in the city of Monte Santo. Monte Santo, in the search for better perception on the part of teachers with the intention of contributing to reducing taboos, prejudices and stigmas. The methodology used was qualitative research, of a bibliographic nature and field research through forms and interviews. To this end, the concepts and epistemologies that encompass the definitions of educational, pedagogical and teaching practices were discussed, under the direction of some scholars such as Barbier and Thiollent (2002), Arroyo (2000) and Wallon (1994), among others. In the educational context, the number of students identified with mental health problems (anxiety, depression, psychological discomfort, disorders, among others) is increasingly constant; the choice of this topic is justified by situations experienced in everyday life, a situation that causes educational losses such as low academic performance and school dropout. In this work, I seek to analyze and research strategies that can help teachers by contributing to combating the stigma of mental disorders and encouraging students to develop social skills that have meaning for their lives.
