Abstract

The aim of this article is to present a study on how the difficulty of school and structural inclusion of children and adolescents affected by Down's Syndrome directly influences the working hours of their parents and families, bearing in mind that from the moment a mother discovers while still in the fetus that she is expecting a baby with trisomy 21, her life changes totally and completely, both personally and professionally. The method used was dialectical, with descriptive and exploratory research, using documents, bibliography, Brazilian magazines and interviews with people responsible for children with Down's Syndrome. In short, it is clear that the school plays an important role in the process of including these children and adolescents, but the family cannot and should not be forgotten, as it is up to them to choose the care that will be offered to their child. The paper highlights the challenges faced and the importance of Federal Law 13.146/2015 in guaranteeing their rights and promoting a more inclusive society.
