This article aims to explore the fundamental role of education within women's prisons, investigating how educational institutions in these environments act as educational refuges. Initially, a contextualization is made about the importance of prison education in promoting the resocialization and reintegration of inmates into society. It then analyzes how education within prisons not only provides academic knowledge, but also plays an essential role in the personal development of students, promoting social skills, self-esteem and self-confidence. Using the theoretical essay methodology, relevant studies and works on the topic by authors such as Paulo Freire, Salviani, Nóvoa and others are examined. By synthesizing this information, the positive impact that prison education can have on the future prospects of inmates stands out, increasing their chances of employability and reducing recidivism rates. The importance of continuous investments in education within women's prisons is also emphasized, as well as the need for policies that value and promote education as an essential tool in transforming lives. Finally, it is concluded that strengthening educational programs within the prison system is essential to provide opportunities for change and rehabilitation for incarcerated women.
