This article addresses the legal phenomenon of consumption from its criminal aspects; the analysis is based on the deductive method; based on the principle of vulnerability, the criminal protection of the consumer is studied from the perspectives of dogmatics, criminology and criminal policy, with the purpose of analyzing the concept of social damage and human waste. Based on the analysis of the legislation, the aim is to answer whether the criminal protection established in the legal system is adequate to protect the consumer relationship, having as a working hypothesis the negative answer to this question; the result is to confirm the hypothesis based on the social consequences of consumption, when related to the criminal sphere.
