Abstract

Core competencies have been a hot topic in global education in recent years. Countries have proposed their own core competencies and built educational curriculum systems based on them. Brazil's basic education shows the characteristics of “the public is weak and the private is strong”, and the quality of education in private primary and secondary schools is much better than that in public primary and secondary schools. Public education in the basic education stage in Brazil is unable to meet the educational needs of middle- and high-income people, causing them, when they can, to abandon the public education system and seek private education. Through the literature review, this article will reflect on this situation.
