School dropout in municipal schools in rural areas can be influenced by a series of complex causes and factors. It is important to identify these factors to develop prevention and intervention strategies. Some of the main causes and factors that can contribute to school dropout in municipal schools in rural areas are the geographic location of rural schools. Students often have to travel long distances to get to school. This can be especially difficult if there is no accessible public transportation, roads, or adverse weather conditions. In this aspect, the general objective of this article is to analyze the conceptions about school dropout in rural areas. Specific objectives are listed: investigating the causes of school dropout; identify the characteristics of school dropout in the countryside. The research was bibliographic in nature. Analysis of the current results and interpretation of the data is based on the application of the tools to answer the research question addressed in this study. The distinctive character of this study lies in its approach to analyzing the data found, with a qualitative focus, addressing specific information related to the problem investigated in a social context and in limited groups. This research is conceived as a bibliographic study. As results, it is concluded that school dropout in the countryside is motivated by multiple factors.
