The introduction provides an overview of the study, emphasizing the importance of research that evaluates the effectiveness of resistance exercises in elderly individuals with sarcopenia. This study aims to analyze the impacts of resistance exercises on the quality of life of elderly individuals diagnosed with sarcopenia. Additionally, it seeks to assess the role of these exercises in the prevention and treatment of this geriatric syndrome. The methodology employed was integrative review, which collected and analyzed relevant information from five recent articles published between 2017 and 2021. The data were obtained through the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) databases. The research results indicate that the inclusion of resistance exercises plays a fundamental role in improving the quality of life of elderly individuals with sarcopenia. There was a notable improvement in the amount of muscle mass, muscle strength, and performance in functional capacity assessments when these exercises were incorporated. This suggests that resistance exercises have significant beneficial potential in the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia, whether performed individually or in combination with other types of exercises. In conclusion, resistance exercises play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining muscle strength, the ability to perform daily tasks, balance, and minimizing falls and fractures in elderly individuals diagnosed with sarcopenia. Therefore, the inclusion of these exercises in healthcare programs for this population is highly recommended, aiming to improve the quality of life and functional independence of elderly individuals with sarcopenia.
