Thermodynamics is a branch of thermology that studies energy transformations in the form of heat and work in thermal systems, such area had its evolution closely linked to the industrial revolution, a revolution that promoted several political, economic and social changes. In this context, the steam engines played a key role, because it was an economic demand to understand its operation to increase its yield and consequently reduce costs related to the drainage of water contained in coal mines. This fact also served as motivation for several scientists of the time to develop studies that culminated in the first two laws of thermodynamics. In this paper, we will propose a didactic sequence to work the first law of thermodynamics in high school, with the introduction of topics in the history of physics. For the evaluation of the teaching and learning process was proposed the production of a podcast about the evolution of the laws of thermodynamics in the industrial context.
