THE PREVALENCE OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES IN ADULTS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH PREDICTIVE AND PROTECTIVE FOODS – INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objective: To demonstrate the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in adults and their relationship with predictors and protectors of foods. Methodology: systematic review. The following databases were used: Bireme, Google academic, PubMed and Scielo. Studies between the years 2011 and 2021 were selected. Results: Based on the studies included in the table, most were relevant to identify cardiovascular risk factors and the relationship between the consumption of protective foods - in natura or minimally processed and predictors – ultra-processed, reflecting the need for nutritional strategies. Conclusion: The analyzed studies present risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases in different age groups, highlighting the consumption of ultra- processed foods in favoring, and strategies of healthy habits in the reduction. Suggesting the monitoring of health professionals in the prevention and control of these factors.
