Measures to protect women when dealing with domestic violence may include establishing a minimum distance from the aggressor's home or where the victim lives and prohibiting the possession of weapons or restricting the carrying of firearms, if applicable. The objective of the present study is to know the applicability of the legislation in the legal system and the protective measures, where it has had an effect in terms of adaptation or modification to the social sphere. The methodology had as a technical procedure the bibliographical research, being elaborated from already published material such as, for example, books, periodicals of several authors, websites, consisting mainly of books, periodical articles and currently with material available on the internet and research documentary. It is concluded that the protective measures cater specifically to the victim, but this happened because they are used according to Law 11.340/06. Since then, the effectiveness of the law has been questioned, as its application to cases of domestic violence has generated uproar in society due to impunity in the police and judicial systems.
