This research analyzes Law No. 11.340/2006, known as the Maria da Penha Law, focusing on the ineffectiveness of urgent protective measures designed to safeguard women who are victims of domestic and family violence. Although the enactment of the law represented a significant advancement in the protection of women, domestic violence remains a concerning reality in Brazilian society. Given this context, the question arises: why, despite the existence of legal protection mechanisms, do so many women remain exposed to violence? The study seeks to understand the key factors undermining the effectiveness of protective measures and to identify potential ways to strengthen protection for victims.
