THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS AND THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR IN THIS PROCESS

Abstract

Continuing education is a vital tool for the professional development of educators and for improving the quality of teaching. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the importance of continuing education for education professionals and the role of the school administrator in fostering this process. This is an integrative literature review conducted using the Google Scholar and SciELO databases, covering articles published in Portuguese between 2020 and 2025. Initially, 33 studies were identified; of these, 10 met the inclusion criteria and formed the final sample. The results demonstrated that continuing education contributes to updating knowledge, refining pedagogical practices, and strengthening professional performance. Furthermore, the study found that the school administrator plays a fundamental role in encouraging, planning, and monitoring training initiatives. It is concluded that continuing education and school management work in a complementary manner, fostering institutional development and improving teaching and learning processes.
