This article sought to analyze the importance of cognitive stimulation of executive functions in elderly individuals and its implications for mitigating functional decline and the risk of dementia. The methodology is characterized as a systematic review of a theoretical and qualitative nature, conducted in the SciELO and BVS databases using Boolean operators and the support of artificial intelligence tools. Eight articles published between 2021 and 2026 were selected. The results demonstrate that computerized cognitive training and online interventions promote significant improvements in domains such as attention and memory, highlighting neuroplasticity in aging. Furthermore, artistic workshops assist in the resignification of old age, while gait speed emerged as a superior early clinical marker compared to the TUG test. The study also emphasizes the importance of systematized support for caregivers. It is concluded that maintaining autonomy requires a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach. Although findings are promising, the need for further longitudinal studies with greater methodological rigor is highlighted to consolidate these strategies as public health policies.
