This article investigates how the experiences and conditions of rural settlers influence their political engagement and conditional appreciation for republican ideals in non-institutionalized political contexts. Focusing on rural settlements in western Paraná, the research explores the motivations and factors that shape the political behavior of these settlers, highlighting their participation in forms of politics that manifest themselves according to their needs and conveniences. By examining the history of struggles for land and the role of movements such as the MST, the article offers a detailed analysis of the dynamics between politics and agrarian reform in Brazil, contributing to a deeper understanding of the interactions between these elements.
