Abstract

Human trafficking constitutes a serious human rights violation and is one of the most lucrative and complex criminal activities in the contemporary world. In Brazil, this practice takes on specific dimensions, especially when associated with sexual exploitation, revealing the intersection of social inequalities, gender issues, economic vulnerability, and institutional weaknesses. This article aims to analyze, from a theoretical perspective, the main aspects related to human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the country, highlighting regulatory frameworks, public policies, and challenges faced in implementing measures to combat them. The bibliographical research is based on national legislation, international treaties, institutional reports, and specialized academic literature, seeking to highlight the gap between regulatory instruments and the reality experienced by victims. It concludes that, despite legal advances and prevention and repression initiatives, Brazil still faces structural and operational obstacles that hinder the eradication of this phenomenon. Strengthening integrated public policies, international cooperation, and the humane reception of victims are essential.
