Cardiac surgery is fundamental in the treatment of various heart diseases; however, it causes a significant decline in functional capacity and creates a psychosocial impact during the postoperative period. Structured rehabilitation becomes a central component of care following these procedures. The Physical Education professional operates within the outpatient phases of rehabilitation, charged with the responsibility of planning, dosing, and supervising physical exercise. This study constitutes an integrative literature review gathering guidelines and articles published between 2014 and 2024 regarding the prescription of aerobic and resistance exercises for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. The analyzed studies indicate that supervised programs—based on risk stratification, hemodynamic monitoring, and training principles—increase maximum oxygen consumption, restore muscle strength, reduce anxiety symptoms, and promote the adoption of an active lifestyle.
